Abstract

A real-time advisor for power system voltage control and reactive power dispatch is presented. The microcomputer-base operator assistance system is coupled with the EMS (energy management system) to acquire the real-time system status and provide the control strategies for system operators in an emergency or during normal conditions. Real implementation is made through a power system simulation laboratory. Since the operator assistance system is developed on the microcomputer, which has the advantage of portability, it can be easily set up with slight modification in the utilities' control centers.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>
