Abstract

AbstractIn the universal literal circuit (ULC) previously proposed, since the two threshold values of the literal circuit are variable by external control signals, four‐valued logic circuits have attracted considerable attention. However, to realize LSI, there was room for improvement from the viewpoint of power consumption. In this paper, as a literal, with the other characteristics remaining the same, a new low‐power ULC circuit with power consumption decreased by 1/285 is proposed. Also, the threshold voltage variation due to the body‐effect of MOS transistors, having a critical influence on the level discrimination characteristics of the circuit, is solved by introducing body‐effect compensating transistors. Moreover, by SPICE simulation, it is verified that the low‐power ULC works satisfactorily.
