Abstract

A LC-Voltage Controlled Oscillator (VCO) for 24GHz FMCW radar transceiver is presented in this paper, with the accumulation-mode MOS (A-MOS) varactors for frequency tuning. In addition, a divide-by-2 injection-locked frequency divider (ILFD) and a divide-by-2 frequency divider based on current mode logic (CML) are implemented, which divide the output frequency from 24GHz to 6GHz for convenient measurements. The proposed VCO and two-stage divider are designed in TSMC 65 nm CMOS process. The measured phase noise at 1MHz offset is -103dBc/Hz with the output frequency of 23.6GHz. The current consumption of VCO core is 4 mA from a 1.2 V supply.
