Abstract
This paper presents design and development of a H-plane waveguide band pass filter at Ka-band based on inductive diaphragms. Very sharp roll-off characteristics have been achieved by optimizing diaphragm and cavity dimensions through extensive simulation. Simulated and experimental results are in good agreement. Measured insertion loss and return loss are below 1 dB and better than 18 dB, respectively from 35.3 GHz to 35.9 GHz. Out of band suppression is over 70 dB at 1.1 GHz away from the pass band, whereas percentage bandwidth is only 1.68%. Proposed design can be used for millimeter wave cloud radar application.
