Abstract

A Novel slotted periodic QMSIW Leaky wave antenna is proposed on Quarter mode Substrate Integrated Wave guide (SIW) filter. This antenna works in a fixed frequency at which bandpass filter designed on QMSIW is set to operate. A periodic set of longitudinal slots is cut on the top layer of the QMSIW, which interrupts the flow of current on the top layer of the QMSIW and works as the Leaky wave antenna. At the bottom layer of the SIW ground plane is etched in the form of a “H” shaped which works as a Bans pass filter and thus a pas band below the cut off frequency of the filter gets created. This “H” shape creates a Defective Ground Structure on the ground plane of the QMSIW which improves the out-of-band rejection of the designed filter without disturbing the insertion loss of the pass bands. The Leaky wave antenna and DGS band pass filter designed on the QMSIW combined the advantages of leaky wave antenna, DGS and QMSIW and also reduced the size of the designed antenna.
