Abstract

In this article, a dual-polarized triple band hybrid 2×1 multi-input multi-output (MIMO) antenna is proposed for WLAN/WiMAX applications. The proposed MIMO antenna comprises of two resonating structures, i.e. (a) modified U-shaped printed line, (b) rectangular dielectric resonator to achieve triple impedance matching frequency bands. The modified U-shaped printed line is also responsible to obtain circularly polarized waves between 3.31–3.48 GHz frequency band. Along with these, two narrow slots and a metallic strip are used on the center of the ground plane to enhance the isolation over three operating frequency bands. The diversity performance of the proposed MIMO antenna is evaluated in terms of the envelope correlation coefficient (ECC) and diversity gain (DG).
