Abstract

A dual-band combined Mic-Dip antenna (Microstrip antenna and Dipole antenna) is proposed in this paper. The combined antenna, including the microstip antenna and the dipole antenna, is working for lower and upper band, respectively. To widen impedance bandwidth for the two operation bands, the coupling feed is employed for Mic-Dip antenna, which can achieve operating bandwidth of about 9.14 % ranging from 2.318–2.54 GHz for lower band and about 36.7 % ranging from 5.158–7.48 GHz for upper band (VSWR ≤ 2). By reusing the radiation patch of the microstip antenna as the reflector of the dipole, the low profile is obtained. The compact dimension of the antenna, by shorting the radiation patch of the microstrip antenna to the ground plane, is further achieved. In addition, the favorable consistency of the radiation patterns in the whole operated bands are realized by using combined antenna. The isolation of more than 25 dB can be achieved between two ports in the required bands. With these good performances, the antenna is very suitable for indoor wireless communication system applications.
