Abstract
This paper presents a design for a high-efficiency power amplifier with an output power of more than 100W, and an ultra-broad bandwidth from 10 to 500MHz. The amplifier has a 4-way push-pull configuration using Guanella's 1∶1 transmission line transformer. A negative feedback network is adopted to make the power gain flat enough over the operating bandwidth. The implemented power amplifier exhibits a power gain of 29.2±1.8dB from 10 to 500MHz band with its power-added efficiency (PAE) being greater than 43%, and the second-and third-harmonic distortions are below −29dBc and −9.78dBc, respectively, at an output power of 100W over the entire frequency band.
