Abstract

Programmable metasurface has enabled real-time manipulation of electromagnetic (EM) waves to achieve diverse applications by the spatial distribution of digital bits. In this paper, we present a 2-bit programmable reflective metasurface for dynamic control of electromagnetic wave in K-band. Each unit cell of proposed metasurface contains two PIN diodes which can produce phase responses of 0, π/2, π and 3π/2 by changing the states of PIN diode. A phase difference of 90° degree is realized between adjacent states and total phase shift range of 360° is achieved. The proposed metasurface can be used for beam manipulation, beam diffusion and realized different far-field patterns by designing different coding sequence for PIN diodes.
