Abstract

Charles E. Mayer President Precast Services, Inc. Twinsburg, Ohio Precast concrete was used as the principal structural loadbearing element, with an exposed architectural finish, in the new $10 million, 232 ft (71 m) tall, air traffic control tower for the Detroit Metropolitan Airport. This article describes the design-construction highlights of the project from the viewpoint of the architect, structural engineer, precaster and erector.
