Abstract

Nowdays, spinal cord injury become a serious illness in the field of medicine. Spinal cord injury cause some health problems in body function, such as bladder, bowel function, heart rate, respiratory, cardiovascular, and sexual function. For rehabilitation facilities for spinal cord injury, early medical care and mobility aids are required. Based on the findings of the problem, then in this research will be developed an electric wheelchair that has the feature transformed to stand. The purpose of this reseacrh is to design and analyze the strength of electric standing wheelchair material if given the patient weight ranging from 40 to 90 kg. Analysis of material strength is done with the help of inventor software. By using the stress analysis feature, it will know the value of von misses, principal stress, displacement, and safety factor. In the simulation, this electric standing wheelchair frame uses mild steel material. The results of the simulation of stress analysis show that the electric standing wheelchair is safe to use in patients who have a maximum weight of 80 kg because the value of the safety factor are 2.08, whereas in patient weight over 80 kg are not safe because the value of the safety factor below 2. The construction of electric standing wheelchair include the load dynamic so that the minimum safety factor must be equal to 2.
