Abstract

AbstractIn order to solve the problem of electric power equipment positioning with fewer hardware resources, a positioning system combing GPS with MapInfo electronic map and wireless data transmission under the Windows operating system was introduced. The system centralizes computer-control, using wireless data transmission and a serial converter to realize intercommunicating between the computer and GPS receiver modules, and display real-time, current geographic location of electrical power equipment by using MapInfo electronic map on a computer. Experimental results show the positioning system combining GPS, MapInfo electronic map with wireless data transmission has stable performance, a low hardware cost, and high positioning accuracy, which can meet the requirements of the general power sector for electrical power equipment positioning.Keywordselectrical power equipment positioningGPSMapInfo electronic mapwireless data transmission
