Abstract

RF energy is the manmade source of energy and it is currently available for 24×7. The paper describes design and optimization of antenna for RF energy harvesting. A planer stepped rectangular monopole antenna is designed for 1800 MHz, which is popular GSM band as well as it is used in 4G communication. Initially, a rectangular monopole antenna is designed which resonates at GSM 1800, 3G, 4G, ISM band. Steps are introduced in the planer monopole antenna near the feed line and the top side of rectangular monopole to increase the bandwidth. Due to the introduction of single step, the antenna starts resonating at GSM 900 along with present bands. Further one more step is added which results in the resonance at LTE850 (band5) also. For dual step rectangular monopole antenna the gain is more than 3 dbi for the frequencies GSM 1800, 3G, 4G and ISM band. The energy demand can be resolved by harvesting RF energy using broadband antenna design in current work.
