Abstract
A newly design technique for enhancing both Bandwidth and gain that improves the performance of a conventional microstrip patch antenna is proposed. Antenna has been designed with proximity feed techniques in order to increase its bandwidth at higher frequencies. The slot length, width, and different shape are optimized to achieve a wide bandwidth. Proposed antenna is designed by cutting an additional pair of two slots on the other radiating edge of the psi-shaped patch. The designed antenna has been simulated using HFSS software. The simulated results for return loss, bandwidth and gain are presented and discussed. The bandwidth of proposed antenna is 2.30GHz – 2.80GHz about 20.83%for VSWR < 2 is achieved on the basis of < −10dB return loss as an acceptable reference in Bluetooth and wireless local area network (WLAN) and other applications. Gain of 6.5dB is achieved for the proposed microstrip antenna.
