Abstract

The use MPC for real-time control system is gaining more and more interests. The hardware implementation of Model Predictive Control (MPC) algorithm is addressed. Laguerre Functions are used to simplify the traditional MPC algorithm, thereby reducing the large computational demand. A five-stage pipeline processor is designed according to the requirements of MPC algorithm. A novel methodology for testing the performance of the MPC-dedicated embedded processor is developed. Simulation results are given to show feasibility and the validity of the design.
