Abstract

Through the development of wireless communication systems, requirement of small and low profile antenna has been vastly attracted. One type of the antennas, used for many applications, is the antennas with monopole-like pattern. For example, most of the blade antennas mounted on an aircraft have monopole-like or omnidirectional patterns. In this paper, firstly Characteristic Mode Theory (CMT) is used, then according to the feature of the excited modes, a low profile antenna with monopole-like pattern is designed and fabricated in UHF band. According to the measurement results, the proposed antenna is 0.07 λ 0 high with impedance bandwidth of 45 % at frequency center of 700 MHz.
