Abstract

It is demonstrated that the optimal capacitive compensation battery for mobile test systems (MTSs) must feature an enhanced specific capacity (3–4 kvar/kg), a dielectric case, and a high vibration resistance. The battery must be connected directly to the bushings of the tested transformer in order to reduce the required capacity of the voltage regulation transformer. A new type of a capacitor for MTSs is proposed: a transforming capacitor allows for step regulation of its rated voltage and capacity while maintaining the installed reactive power constant.
