Abstract
In this paper four different-shaped microstrip patch antennas (MPAs) are designed and their results are discussed. The designed antennas are rectangular, circular, elliptical, or square microstrip patch antennas that operate at 3.9 GHz, 3.9 GHz, 3.9 GHz, and 3.7 GHz, respectively. In addition, the designs are validated by theoretical calculation of results at the operating frequency. A low-cost FR4 Epoxy (flame retardant) is used as the substrate. The results of different shapes of MPA are analyzed using Ansoft HFSS software. The comparison of various parameters like S11, gain, and bandwidth are also discussed. The designed antenna is suitable for use by WiMAX applications.
