Abstract
Design bases are described for stress cells placed in the interface between a stiff wall and a matrix and for stress and strain cells in a free field. The results of calibration tests are given in which the design bases are checked, with a finely grained medium as matrix. Types of cells used for tests in silos and silo models are discussed, and examples of applications are given.
