Abstract

In this study, a multi-axis solar tracking system was designed and implemented in order to increase the efficiency of electrical energy obtained from solar energy, which is one of the renewable energy sources. The solar tracking unit can monitor the sun on both the horizontal axis and the vertical axis. Using the solar tracking system, it is possible to increase the efficiency by approximately % 25-35. In the biaxial control system implemented in this study, the panel was placed on the north-south line and its movement was made in the east-west axis. If it is vertical movement, the lower part (south end) of the panel is rotated and the upper part (north) is moved up and down. Optimization of the system has been achieved with this mechanism. In the implemented system, horizontal movement is provided with the help of stepper motor controlled by arduino in line with the information coming from LDRs. Vertical axis movement is provided with the help of linear motor controlled by arduino in line with the information coming from LDRs. LDRs that provide sun tracking are placed on the top of the panel. The electrical energy produced by the system can be used as DC and AC current sources with the help of the converter and inverter circuits. In addition, this energy DC can be stored in a battery group connected to the system.
