Abstract

In modern wireless communication systems, there is an increasing demand for smaller low-cost antennas that can be easily integrated with packaging structures. Shorting post(s) in microstrip antennas have recently come into use in order to take the advantage of tunability and compactness. In this paper, design and analysis of a lower order mode of loaded square microstrip patch antenna with single shorting post close to feeding point location has been presented. The proposed design has been analyzed, investigated and experimentally validated with reasonable agreement and size reduction up to 89.9% to meet the requirements of low profile antenna systems and miniaturized wireless communication applications.
