Abstract

Preference to Grid integrated PV system implementation is becoming more acceptable on commercial as well as residential levels due to the growing importance of solar energy and its advantages over conventional energy sources. The inverter is an inevitable element of this system that allows the integration of the PV system and grid, so to reduce the harmonics in the system produced by the inverters, different pulse width modulation (PWM) techniques are practiced. Conventional ones are the SINE-PWM technique, Space Vector based PWM technique, Hysteresis current controller-based PWM technique, etc. The new technique of pulse width modulation PWM includes injection of harmonic and vectorial modulation. In this paper, the design and analysis of 11 KV grid-connected PV system is carried by using sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM), third harmonic injection pulse width modulation (THIPWM), and space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM). Harmonic performance (THD) of different PWM techniques is studied and analyzed in MATLAB/SIMULINK environment.
