Abstract

The concept of Magnetic levitation attracts the attention of researchers and developers on the global platform for its serviceability in both industrial and research applications. Per contra, it is uphill battle to design controller in presence of parameter uncertainty and external disturbance. This paper is initiating with modeling of magnetic levitation system dynamics including electromagnet and ferromagnetic ball. A controller for levitating ferromagnetic ball at desired position by controlling current through electromagnet coil is proposed in this paper with Static Sliding Mode and Dynamic Sliding Mode. Their simulation results are shown and a comparison is done. Dynamic sliding mode is observed to improve the time response indices.
