Abstract

Design engineering is mainly focussing on the design, weight etc. of different components of I C engine so that engine efficiency can be increased. Connecting rod is the vital components because it is transferring force from piston to the crank and converting reciprocating motion to rotational motion. So, aim of this research paper is to design a connecting rod for given specifications. In general, connecting rod material is carbon steel; but nowadays best material to produce connecting rod is Aluminium alloys. In this analysis, Structural Steel-High Strength-Low Alloy is used as material of connecting rod. All in this paper analysis is done on ANSYS 2021 student version software and modelling is done on FUSION 360 software. All the results of design and data of material in this paper are obtained with the help of ANSYS. This paper shows that the connecting rod designed by the proper technical documentation and standard specifications is safely designed.
