Abstract

Induction Motor is always focus of attention from its invention and considered as preferred choice, so treated as the workhorse of the industry. Its preference does not vanish even in the specialized and critical applications. Based on the application demand, its shape can be changed so as to rotary motion converted directly into linear motion without any additional mechanism. It increases efficiency and reliability of the system. Hence Rotary Induction Motor becomes Linear Induction Motor and Linear Induction Motor further modified to Tubular Linear Induction Motor. 6 kW, 3-phase, 415 V, 50 Hz Tubular Linear Induction Motor has been designed, analyzed and realized for continuous hammering application in this paper. Design equation for Tubular Linear Induction Motor has been derived from basic concept. Design Analysis has been carried out using ANSYS MAXWELL software. Simulated results for thrust, linear speed, and other parameters are presented and compared with the developed Motor.
