Abstract

This paper aims to conceptualize and describe the learning design of the Literary Theory course in the Indonesian Language and Literature Education study program at the NKRI-RDTL border area campus by using the Project Based Learning and Problem Based Learning models based on character education. One of the campuses in the NKRI-RDTL border area is the University of Timor (Unimor) campus. In this study program, Literary Theory is a subject of a literary family that is conditionally mandatory and programmed by second-semester students with a weight of 3 credits. Through the ethical-emic paradigm set in the NKRI-RDTL border area, this paper is presented using a qualitative descriptive method. Many problems and obstacles are found in the practice of learning this course, especially for students who are in the NKRI-RDTL border area. Therefore, learning designs with contemporary models must be conceptualized, explored, and further explored, so that the learning outcomes of this course can be fulfilled effectively, optimally, and maximally. Students also become more enthusiastic about learning and in love with this course. In general, the learning model used is not a new product. But for students in the NKRI-RDTL border area, this model is a new product that has never been applied on campus, is innovative, creative, fun, and can be collaborated with various other learning models that are relevant to their era and the focus of the discussion that is the subject of their study. Moreover, the learning model is balanced with the values of character education in its practice and implementation, starting from the values of religiosity, nationalism, independence, mutual cooperation, and integrity.
