Abstract
Wireless LAN (Local Area Network) or WLAN is an information technology (IT) which use radio frequency or infrared (IR) as a transmission media. WLAN technologies have a wide coverage area and large capacity. WLAN Implementation must follow the rule of design; one of this is link budget calculation. University of Lampung (Unila) in this matter represented by Bulletin Board Service University of Lampung (BBS UNILANET) is.developing a hotspot wireless network in Unila using WLAN technologies. BBS UNILANET working together with experts from PT. TigaSatu Mandiri Prima, an IT company, to implement WLAN in Unila. From this cooperation, it became necessary to implement a wireless network connecting BBS UNILANET to PT. TigaSatu Mandiri Prima. The purpose of this experiment is to design and implement WLAN from BBS UNILANET to PT. TigaSatu Mandiri Prima and to get calculation result of link budget and throughput. The result of the experiment show WLAN design from BBS UNILANET to PT. TigaSatu Mandiri Prima designed with a qualified standard rule of WLAN, based on height (BBS 124 meter, PT. TSMP 107 meter) and between the two point is Line Of Sight (LOS) ranged at 7.18 Km. Implementation builded with a set of Senao and WLG-2450-24 Grid Antenna in each location and pointed at each other (point to point) resulted in signal quality of 100% and signal strength of 70%. Keywords : WLAN, Link Budget, Throughput, Line Of Sight
