Abstract

It is shown that an anharmonic addition to the nuclear vibrational Hamiltonian for even-even nuclei can be obtained by an approach based on the nonlinear extension of the Sawada method for treating collective oscillations. The resultant corrected Hamiltonian is found to give results that agree with experimental data, in the case of transition rates and two-phonon-level splitting in the quadrupole vibrational levels of even-even nuclei.
