Abstract

A numerical model for determining the trajectories of a spherical aerosol particle in the vicinity of a spherical collector is presented. The Coulomb, image, Stokes, inertial and gravitational forces acting upon the particle and the collector are taken into consideration in the equations of motion. The system of equations is solved in 3-D space. The flow field in the vicinity of the collector is determined by numerical solution of the Navier-Stokes equations. The examples of aerosol particles' trajectories are presented for a few values of the Coulomb and Reynolds numbers.
