Abstract

Universities and Colleges’ worldwide functions are instruction, community extension, production, and research. One vital function is research, which is why a research management system is essential to a university. Continuing advancement in research standards and quality mechanisms with the aim of technology can be utilized. Preprints are initial versions of scientific papers that researchers share by posting to servers called preprints before peer review and publication in an academic journal, and this allows the readers and internal researchers to access early results. Preprint servers are freely accessible online archives that host preprints and their associated data. Post-prints are finished publication after the peer review. This study aims to design a research management system and process using Open-Source applications for Pangasinan State University, Lingayen Campus, by creating a process and adopting an open-source application system for preprint, post-print publication, and data repository which serves as the platform for research publication for students and faculty staff of the university. A result of usability is also presented as a basis for the proposed improvement of the process and system. The study shows that the utilized open-source application is usable, which helps the campus attain its goal of integrating the sustainable research management process.
