Abstract

The objective of the research was to determine the level of emotional dependence in university and high school students. The approach was quantitative, with a non-experimental and descriptive simple cross-sectional design. The sample of 533 women was selected by non-probabilistic convenience sampling. The results indicate that the overall prevalence of emotional dependence is low at 60.3%, followed by 32.1% at medium level and 7.5% at high level. Analyzing by residence, in both rural and urban residence students, the trend is similar, with the majority at low level. By type of institution, university students show a similar distribution, while high school students have a slightly higher prevalence in the low level (61.9%) and lower prevalence in the high level compared to other categories.
