Abstract

The density of states of cylindrical quantum wires is calculated in the presence of charged impurities. A multiple-scattering approach is used in order to describe impurity bands for small impurity densities and band-tails for large impurity densities. Excited impurity bands are obtained within our approach. An analytical expression is given for the disorder-induced renormalized band-edge in the band-tail regime.
