Abstract
A novel ceramic rolling technique was developed to improve the formability of spray deposited porous aluminum alloy sheets. The deformation behavior of 8009Al/SiCp during ceramic rolling process was investigated. The results show that the ceramic rolling can effectively improve the density of the spray deposited performs. When the thickness reduction ratio is up to about 60%, the full density preform could be obtained. Moreover, the Al2O3 particles have the better effect of densification than SiO2 in the densification process. The sample processed by ceramic rolling with Al2O3 has the more outstanding mechanical property and microstructure, which can be attributed to the fact that Al2O3 particles are difficult to be broken up during rolling process because of the high hardness which is in favor of transferring pressure to preform.
