Abstract

Demand response is an important way to improve buildings energy consumption. It aims to schedule the various appliances in the buildings to let their energy consumption match the real-time electricity price provided by smart grid. Based on buildings energy management systems, a DR scheduling algorithm is presented for buildings economic energy consumption. It defines the user target price to indicate different user requirements and learns the working time of the appliances for the residents' comfort in the buildings by logistic regression. Thus, the presented algorithm dynamically adjusts the maximum power threshold, and then automatically arranges the operation of the appliances to achieve buildings economic energy consumption. Simulation results show that the presented algorithm can significantly reduce the energy consumption demand during peak price period while ensuring the residents’ comfort, and the total energy cost can be reduced by 15.1% compared with the user's expectation. © 2021 Elsevier Science.
