Abstract

Butte and Marson (1) have reported normal 17-ketosteroid (17-KS) values for patients with gout, while Wolfson et al (2) reported decreased urinary values. Our study indicates that while the total urinary 17-KS of patients with this disease are normal, 3β-hydroxy-androst-5-en-17-one (dehydroepiandrosterone; DHA) could not be detected.
