Abstract

Cr3C2–25%NiCr coatings were deposited on 310S boiler steel by high velocity oxy-fuel process and its degradation behavior upon cyclic oxidation was studied. The microstructural changes of 310S bare substrate and coatings, during oxidation, after exposure of 10, 30 and 50hours were also evaluated in the present work. The bare and coated specimens obey parabolic rate law of oxidation as observed in the present work. XRD, FESEM/EDS analysis and X-ray mapping were used to analyze the degradation products formed on the surface of the bare and coated specimens.
