Abstract

When a bridge pier settles, deformation of the complex coupling between a maglev track and girders may occur because of the disparity between the continuity of the maglev track and discontinuity of the simply supported girder bridge. This introduces additional irregularity to the track, resulting in the combined vibration of the maglev train–bridge system. In this study, a high-speed maglev track–simply supported bridge is considered as the research object. The deformation characteristics of the maglev track caused by the pier settlement are analysed. First, the mapping relationship between the settlement of a single pier and the deformation of the maglev track is theoretically deduced. Then, an analytical model for the deformation of the maglev track is developed. The model is compared with a finite element model and found to have sufficient accuracy. The additional irregularity of the maglev track includes the rigid displacement caused by pier settlement and the elastic displacement influenced by the track and girder. The elastic deformation of the longitudinal beam of the maglev track is the main component of the deformation in the vertical displacement of the maglev track. Based on the established analytical model, the elastic deformation of the longitudinal beam of the maglev track and its main influencing factors are further examined.
