Abstract

Fossil fuels are responsible for global warming (carbon emissions). Throughout the world, energy efficiency is deployed in an attempt to reduce this negative impact. Energy management is one lever of energy efficiency. An energy management can’t be successful without a clear and robust metering/monitoring plan. An energy metering plan has two main goals. The first goal is to continuously improve the performance. The second goal is the reduction of carbon emissions and costs. A deep sub-metering permits to realize more energy savings. Estimates of energy savings have ranged from 1% to 20%, depending on the application of the metering systems. This paper contains 2 cases study of metering plan: one in an industrial and one in a residential building.
