Abstract
Lobsters given an inactivated bacterin with or without vancomycin exhibited significant protection 6 days after vaccination, and for up to 93 days after. The protection was observed in both juvenile and adult animals. Both the injection and immersion delivery route were examined, with greater protection provided by injection, but both means provided increased survival compared to controls. In the field, both injection and immersion administration of the bacterin resulted in a greater survival of lobsters, as indicated by the increased recovery of vaccinated animals in the pounds, compared to controls.
