Abstract
We have performed scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy on YNi 2B 2C under the magnetic fields. The vortex lattice has been imaged up to 3 T by mapping the local density of states at the Fermi energy. In addition to the regular vortex lattice, we have observed defects in the vortex lattice above 1.5 T; they are single line vacancies and dislocations. The appearance of the defects seems to be a precursor of the disordered configuration of vortices above 3 T.
