Abstract

Thermal properties of ordered and disordered Pb(In1/2Nb1/2)O3 (PIN)single crystals were investigated. For the ordered PIN, typical thermalanomalies were observed at the antiferroelectric transition temperature. These anomalies were degraded and disorder appeared during heatingprocesses. The defect-induced phase separation provided a good account of theinstability of the relaxor and antiferroelectric states of the PIN crystals.
