Abstract
Conventional approaches to cosmology in supergravity assume the existence of multiplesectors that only communicate gravitationally. In principle thesesectors decouple in the limit Mpl→∞. Inpractice such a limit is delicate: for generic supergravities, where sectors are combined by adding their Kähler functions, theseparate superpotentials must contain non-vanishing vacuumexpectation values supplementing the naïve global superpotential. We show that thisrequires non-canonical scaling in the naïve supergravitysuperpotential couplings to recover independent sectors ofglobally supersymmetric field theory in the decoupling limit Mpl → ∞.
