Abstract
Around the world, rape and sexual abuse are everyday violent occurrences, affecting close to a billion women and girls over their lifetimes, and this makes rape a global epidemic . A report compiled by World Population Review (2021) indicates that Lesotho is ranked at number three position globally as a country that has high prevalence of rape, this is because sexual violence against women and girls is most widespread as there is a rate of 88.6 rape cases per 100, 000 inhabitants. Scholars in diverse parts of the world and varying disciplines have devoted a huge amount of research in order to address the social ill of rape which is pervasive in most societies of the world.
