Abstract
There have been two key successful major biomedical interventions to prevent HIV transmission over the past decade: treatment as prevention (TasP) and pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). Here we report the number of new HIV diagnoses among Australian-born men who have sex with men (MSM) attending the Melbourne Sexual Health Centre in Australia between 2009 and 2017. The centre is the major public sexual health clinic in Melbourne and provides about 50 000 consultations a year, of which about 48% are in MSM. Annually, the centre diagnoses about 30% of new HIV diagnoses in MSM for the state of Victoria.
