Abstract

The development of decision support systems in medical domains has encountered problems both with the research agenda and usability and utility of the empirical results. This paper discusses the problems briefly and points out some issues concerning where, when and how medical decision support systems could be successfully designed. Also the potential contribution of a new discipline, Computer Supported Cooperative Work for the development work is briefly outlined.
