Abstract

A decentralized observer-based approach for the regulations of multi-machine power systems with time-varying interconnections is proposed. By using the optimal control method to the observer and nominal equation of each power machine, the optimal solutions are modified to adapt these nonlinear interactions among the power machines. The proposed approach is a truly decentralized output feedback scheme and can guarantee the global system a prescribed chosen degree of stability. Computer simulations of a 3-machine power system are conducted. From these results, we find the observer states follow the real states rapidly and all the states converge to zero exponentially.
