Abstract

A decentralized nonlinear control (DNC) of generator excitation and turbine governor in a large-scale power system has been proposed and applied to the west Japan power system with 10 machines. Simulation results show that, the proposed DNC can improve the transient stability of the whole power system to a great extent even if only three of the generators are equipped with DNC. The property of the zero dynamics has been explored, and several problems have been discussed.
