Abstract

The International Labour Organization has engaged in the PRSP process as a means to connect poverty reduction and Decent Work Agenda on the national level. In this context the paper analyzes the Ethiopian PRSP with regard to decent work. The objectives at hand include: empowering the tripartite constituents to promote social dialogue on drafting and implementing poverty reduction strategies, incorporating aspects of decent work into PRSPs, influencing development organizations and concerned governments. In addition, it is important to put effort into equity and not solely on growth in the PRSPs by using techniques such as reform of land rights, development of a fair, efficient and effective fiscal policy, and the promotion of core labour standards. The purpose is to form policies that will have a more significant role for decent work integrated into poverty reduction strategies such as SDPRP and the participatory process creating the PRSP.
