Abstract

In this paper I deal with the transition from the romantic-“cardiological” paradigm of poetry interpretation (“poetry of the heart” – “la poésie du cœur”) to a modernist-cerebral perspective on the lyric: a poetry of the brain, of the intellect. The first would be a warm poetry, which achieves its impact by producing “movement” in the reader/ audience based on the high-temperature feelings it expresses; the other works the other way around, emoting by diminishing the “incandescence” and by “cooling” the feelings/ emotions walked through the “retorts” of the intellect (E. Lovinescuʼs metaphor).
