Abstract

El cantabrum es un tipo de estandarte militar romano de tropas auxiliares. De él hablan algunas fuentes literarias latinas cristianas, bien conocidas, a las que añadimos ahora un texto de Ps. Justino, así como una inscripción de Aquincum, en Panonia, del siglo III d.C., y una serie monetal de Galieno con la leyenda IO(vi) CANTAB(rorum). También reunimos y actualizamos la epigrafía relativa a las cohortes Cantabrorum, y los textos literarios y epigráficos relativos al gyrus cantabricus. Todos estos documentos nos permiten reflexionar sobre varias quaestiones cantabricae tópicas y hacer nuevas propuestas.PALABRAS CLAVE: Cántabros – Ejército romano imperial – Cohortes Cantabrorum – Cantabrum (estandarte) – Cantabricus gyrus – Inscripción de Aquincum – Iuppiter cantabrorum (en algunas monedas del emperador Galieno).AbstractThe “cantabrum” is a type of Roman military standard auxiliaries.
